Modifications

Modifications, or enhancements, as I like to call them, are a lot of fun and are a great way to personalize your car.   I won't do something unless it is top-notch.  No "ground effect" kits or "basket handle"  spoilers on this car!   Here are some of the modifications I've done so far.

K&N Filter Setup

I used K&N filter # RE 0820.  It measures 6" in dia. and 14" long.  The connection tube is a 3" dia. galvanized metal duct that I believe is made to fit water heaters.  It worked well because it has a thin wall thickness, and is adjustable.  I taped it up to make it look better, and to provide some protection from the elements.  I noticed an increase in performance, the motor seems to rev more freely.  The intake noise is no louder than stock when driving around town, but when you get on it, it is quite a bit louder than stock, but it does sound good.   According to the K&N formula for calculating filter size, this filter can support a 750 cu. in. motor at 7000 rpm!!

Now that's a real man's filter! Open up and say Ahhhh! Filtersideclose.jpg (464609 bytes)

Cam Cover and Cam Sprocket Cover Paint Work

I had to remove this stuff to inspect the cam chain tensioner and to replace the timing belts and seals this winter, so why not ?

I sand blasted down to bare metal, then used a high temp engine paint.  I used masking tape and an exacto knife to do the letters.

The original color was a Tannish-Silver with a lot of corrosion.
I think it dresses up the engine without being obnoxious.  Now the filter, that's obnoxious!

Pretty Clean, Eh? I used a Kodak DC290 Zoom to take these pics.

Custom Strut Tower Brace

What you see here is without a doubt the finest strut tower brace in existence.  This work of art was fabricated by Joe Sirokie and John Halada. The entire assembly is made out of high grade stainless steel.  I designed the templates out of light cardboard, and they did the rest.  The finish quality is a result of glass beading the entire assembly, then coating it with high-temp clear enamel to resist dirt.  There are no clearance problems, and the brace can be easily removed by loosening the 4 stainless bolts.  There is no finer brace available at any price, any where in the world.   The handling of the car has been tightened up as a result, you can really tell that the front end is tied together.

New Kingsborne Plug Wires

I got a good deal on these, and they do look better than the factory wires.  They use Beru connectors, but the wire is 8.8 mm.  Very Sharp!
